Dr Patrick O’Brien, FREng
A Chartered Engineer with 30 years’ oil and gas industry experience, Dr O’Brien started his career with riser design specialist MCS, where he helped to lead the business through successful product commercialisation, international growth and subsequent integration into Wood Group Kenny. Dr O’Brien is a recognised expert in subsea riser mechanics, riser design and flexible pipe technology and has established an international reputation for his contributions to the industry.
In April 2013, Dr O’Brien joined ITF as Chief Executive and is responsible for driving forward ambitious global growth plans for the organisation, while strengthening the development and deployment of innovative technology for the oil and gas industry’s most pertinent challenges through collaborative projects among its members.
Dr O’Brien is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng); he is an Honorary Professor of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen and an Adjunct Professor of Engineering at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Up until recently, for a period of close to ten years since its formation in 2004, Dr O’Brien served on the board of industry body Subsea UK.
Director of Strategic Projects and International Development
A capable and experienced Operations Director with proven leadership and management skills. High levels of dedication and focus ably demonstrated by the ability to combine studying for an MBA while working in a busy environment. Experience comprising strategic objective planning, business analysis, requirements gathering and commercial engagement through the definition of new business proposals, contractual negotiation, agreement and delivery. Comfortable in client facing engagement with industry in the UK and internationally at senior levels and across multiple functional disciplines.
Currently, leading the high profile market entry for ITF into Brazil in the areas of technical activity, building the business and member engagement including regular negotiation within the senior influencers within the operator community and, specifically in the case of Brazil, the governmental oil and gas regulator.
Regional Manager Australia
Prior to joining ITF Peter was employed by CSIRO in Australia for 8 years where he held various prominent research managerial positions.
Peter joined ITF in July 2011 as the Regional Manager for Australia. His role includes identifying regional clusters and activity with local technical experts and discipline experts, developing an understanding of stakeholder needs in the area, networking with stakeholders and identifying marketing and PR opportunities within the region.
Country Manager Brazil
Prior to joining ITF Arthur was the Executive Director at CTDUT – Pipeline Technology Center for 6 years and has some previous experience in the Defense Industry.
Large experience in high technology project management, from design to production and setting to work; responsible for multimillion Dollar projects, including areas non related to previous background; contract negotiation and management; source developing; cost reduction; good knowledge about PETROBRAS contractual procedures and Brazilian legal and commercial practices; good knowledge about ANP's Special Participation and R&D Funding rules.

Dr Will Davies
An experienced technology development, operations and general manager with 20 years’ experience in a variety of UK and international roles in oil and gas, coatings and the chemical industry
In October 2013 he joined ITF where he works closely with the member companies to identify and define their technology development needs. Will also works extremely closely with the development community seeking solutions to these needs. He manages a broad range of relationships with ITF key accounts ensuring that their needs are understood and consistently met with the ultimate goal of launching JIPs that have an impact on the industry.
His broad functional experience across a diverse international environment has allowed him to develop an effective and adaptable skill-set with networking and relationship building, influencing and driving change.
Dr Will Davies gained his BSC in Industrial Chemistry from Napier University, Edinburgh, his PhD in Chemistry/Physics from the University of Strathclyde and his MBA from Edinburgh University Business School.
A Mechanical Engineer with 9 years’ Oil and Gas Industry experience, covering roles onshore and offshore; initially as a Logging while Drilling Specialist, then a Drilling Engineer. His expertise is in Drilling and Wells.
After completing a Mechanical Engineering degree at Loughborough University Ben started his Oil and Gas Industry career with Schlumberger. Working in various locations worldwide such as South America, Africa, North Sea and Greenland where he picked up in-depth operational knowledge of the industry. In his role as LWD Engineer and Borehole Seismic Engineer, Ben worked with both sub-surface and drilling teams. His role at Schlumberger included in-field testing new software and technology.
Ben moved to Applied Drilling Technology International (ADTI)and worked as a Drilling Engineer on the UKCS and in The Netherlands. He was responsible for all aspects of well planning and operations.
Outside of work Ben enjoys running and fitness, snowboard and wakeboarding (when the Scottish weather allows). He is a member of the IMechE and studying towards a MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University.
Iain graduated with a Law degree LL.B (Hons) from the University of Aberdeen in 2011 and has been working in the oil and gas industry ever since. Iain grew up in the North East of Scotland and was always keen to pursue a career in the energy sector. In 2013 Iain completed a graduate training scheme with a leading subsea contractor in Aberdeen, Iain's career has gone from strength to strength working in both operator and contractor environments, where he has supported and delivered significant multi-million pound projects from a contracts perspective to some of the leading operators in the UKCS.
Iain joined ITF in January 2017 as ITF’s contracts lead. In his role as Contracts Analyst at ITF he is responsible for the successful execution of ITF contracts including commercial discussions, contract negotiations and legal enquiries from both our members and developers. Iain is the main legal focal point within ITF who will deal with all contractual enquiries that cover every aspect of the business. Iain will lead the ongoing implementation and update of all of our QHSE policies and procedures.
Subsurface Technology Analyst
An experienced Geologist and Project Manager Jason graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2010 with a BSc honours degree in Earth Science. After a short campaign mapping contract in Mozambique Jason moved to Australia and worked for several years as an Exploration and Project Geologist for Fortescue Metals Group, a leading Iron ore company based in Perth WA.
After returning to the UK in 2013 Jason completed his MSc in Integrated Petroleum Geoscience at the University of Aberdeen, graduating with Distinction. Post-graduation Jason joined Schlumberger as a support geoscientist where he worked closely with many Aberdeen based operators providing modelling support and training in Petrel.
Jason joined the ITF team in February 2017 as our Subsurface Technology Analyst and is responsible for leading all ongoing subsurface JIP’s and future subsurface calls.
Subsea Technology Analyst
Alasdair has over 9 years’ oil and gas industry experience focusing on topsides and subsea. His career started in topside design as an installation engineer and laterally as a project engineer.
Alasdair completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at Napier University in Edinburgh. After which, he embarked on his career in oil and gas based in Aberdeen within the design of topside modular units, steel fabrication and design of subsea tools and components.
After moving to Perth, Australia as a Design Contractor and then subsequently as an Installation Engineer for Allseas where he worked on subsea structures and installation of pipelines off the coast of Western Australia. His career took him back to the UK to join Subsea7 as a Project Engineer.
Currently Alasdair is working towards his Chartership through IMechE. He is a keen swimmer, surfer, snowboarder and mountain biker. In his free time he likes to teach surf life rescue at Aberdeen Beach.
